This time of year is a great time to get organized. If you are living in a cold winter climate, you will be stuck indoors so you might as well make the best of it. Instead of hibernating on the couch bundled up to stay warm, spend a few hours cleaning and organizing. This means when the weather improves and everyone else begins their annual spring cleaning, you will have had a jumpstart. With a quick dusting you will be outside riding your bike, flying a kite, or heading down to the beach. Motivating yourself during the winter months is tough. The days are dreary, the nights are freezing cold, and sometimes it is all you can do to get out of bed. Instead of hibernating, spend just a few hours a day getting things spic and span, and within a week, your space will be spotless. Even in warmer climates you can start on spring cleaning early. If you live in southwestern states, you may still feel run down this time of year. Some dusting and wiping may be just enough to brighten your mood. You can also organize your excess belongings and keep them out of the house in storage. Once the top to bottom cleaning is finished, empty the garbage and tidy up any last minute messes. Choose a few new things to brighten the environment like new candles, new pillows, or brightly colored accessories. This is the time to make sure you can enjoy your newly cleaned home. When the time comes for everyone else to begin their cleaning, you will have a sparkling clean home. Enjoy your surroundings, relax, and get out and enjoy the sunshine.
